When I
was twelve, I built my very first website. It was
called "Tropical Freshwater Aquarium," and its goal
was the same as this website, and it succeeded. It
succeeded so much so that two years after its
inception, my free web host booted it for too much
bandwidth activity. Basically, at the age of twelve,
I had a website averaging 20 to 30 hits per day! Now
you see some of the motivation for creating this
site, rather than simple altruism.
Tropical Freshwater Aquarium
Lasted from 2000 until 2002. Booted from
its free web host for too much bandwidth activity
(too many people visiting the site).
Me, being twelve at the time, did not want to pay
for extra bandwidth, so capitalism killed my hobby
for a while. If I can get into the old hard drive that
the website was created on, I would love to show
what it looked like at its inception in 2000 to its
unclimatic end in 2002. It even
had a message board!
Cichlid &
Associates
Only
lived through the year 2007. It was a summer
project that I started and gave up on. Shares web
address and a lot of design with this current site.
It is long deleted and
happily so... became a technical mess very quickly.
Some amazing images and ideas blossomed from the
mess, which is what this site is trying to capture.
The appeal of my initial site and the ambition of
the second site are what this third (and final?)
site are trying to achieve.

Webmaster Blog
4/4/12
Happy
Easter, everyone! Updates have been going slow
lately; life's been busy.
3/28/12
Unfortunately, no substantial updates to report.
I've been busy job hunting and other things outside
of the cyber world. Updated some links.
3/21/12
Reformatted sub-indexes some more. Created a page
listing all species for easier navigation, even
though there aren't many species to really be
worried about cluttering, and I'm updating the site
without completing the page anyways.
3/14/12
Removed
search bars from sub-index pages... they didn't
work. Hoping to create cover pages for the
sub-indexes, directing visitors to likewise articles
and other pages, all the while maintaining the
site's simplicity. In the meantime, most of the
sub-indexes have been slightly redesigned to fit the
site's overall theme.
3/7/12
Unsuccessfully tried adding a Facebook "Like"
button. Also unsuccessfully tried integrating
features that would let me monitor site statistics,
such as how many unique visitors I receive, etc.
So... although it's archaic in the modern
internet... sign the guestbook, please! I'm very
curious about opinions.
Page
about my own aquariums coming soon. Developing the
page into something I like and my ongoing
experimenting with my aquariums are what has held
the page from publication.
Fixed
some major bugs within a few of the pages. And
cleaned up the weird
anomalies within some page codes.
2/29/12
Happy
Leap Day!
2/22/12
50th
page! And more graphics work. And some writing
edited... some pages were done hastily; in other
words, there's no "Cichlid Editor."
Link
added to
Fish Link Central!
2/15/12
A lot of
graphics added to the homepage and other pages. Some
pages redesigned, and most importantly, the homepage
has been remodeled. Snazzy!
2/8/12
Third
Wednesday update. Added new effects and other
aesthetics.
There
tends to be a lot of bugs after adding subtle
changes to the formatting... bare with me as I fix
them... frustrating.
2/1/12
Second
Wednesday update! Not a lot of new content, but
reformatted a lot of pages and fixed
the major bugs (probably still minor ones
somewhere).
Please sign the
guestbook and give me some opinions! Happy February.
1/25/12
First
Wednesday update!
1/21/12
No new
updates until Wednesday. Now that I'm satisfied with
the overall layout, beginning a weekly update
routine seems rational. The first version of this
website, Tropical Freshwater Aquarium, was updated
every Wednesday for years.

SOPA?
Really?! The basic motive is far, but the language
is far too vague. Nope.
Lots of
time spent on infrastructure, time for some fun
stuff: fishy profiles! The hit counter is almost at
"100" because I keep refreshing and reshaping the
home page as new ideas sprout. And I'm talking to
myself... hopefully these blogs look interesting at
a later date.
1/18/12
Lots of
bugs fixed. Lots of pages to build.
1/17/12
Initial
plan was for February 1st publishing date. However,
after much impatience and anticipation on my part...
Ta Da! Genesis! Once again: To you, Dad :)
"Hit
counter" from old site applied to this site. Count
reset to zero :O
Blah.
Finally looking like a website. Spent a lot of
awkward time chasing fish with a camera. Overall,
very happy with the progress :)
1/16/12
Writing,
writing, writing.
1/13/12
Building
some new and redesigning some old.
To you,
Dad :)
1/1/12
Day one.
